What’s New in Infrastructure in 2024

With the release of the GRESB Infrastructure 2024 results, GRESB Investor Members have access to new data points and insights, supporting improved analysis and engagement.

Benchmark Reports

The GRESB Benchmark Report provides an in-depth analysis of the ESG performance of a company, fund, or asset participating in the GRESB Assessments. More details on Benchmark Reports can be found here.  

The Benchmark Reports are updated every year to reflect the changes in the GRESB Standards. The changes are reviewed and approved by the GRESB Foundation following the GRESB Standard Development Process. The 2024 List of Changes to the Standards can be found here: Asset, Fund and Development Asset

Infrastructure Asset  

  • Breakdown of Scope 1, 2 and 3 data coverage (GH1) 
  • The climate-related opportunities identified by the Asset (RM4.5) 
  • Which impacts of the identified climate-related opportunities have been assessed and deemed material for the Asset (RM4.6)  
  • Validation of evidence for all climate risks and opportunities indicators (RM4.1-4.6) 
  • Whether the GHG data reported by the Asset is verified, assured or checked (GH1) 
  • Which process was used to determine the Scope 3 emission categories that are deemed material/relevant to the asset (GH1) 

Infrastructure Fund 

  • How the fund is performing with respect to its development portfolio (if available) 
  • The climate-related opportunities identified by the Fund (RM3.5) 
  • Which impacts of the identified climate-related opportunities have been assessed and deemed material for the Fund (RM3.6)  
  • Validation of evidence for all climate risks and opportunities indicators (RM3.1-3.6) 

Infrastructure Development Asset 

  • In 2024, GRESB launched the Infrastructure Development Asset Assessment for fund managers and asset operators to provide investors with a nuanced view into the sustainability of pre-operational assets. The new Infrastructure Development Asset Benchmark Report provides the results, benchmark and asset-level data, for the ESG management practices and performances of the companies with assets in construction or pre-construction. 
  • How has the company progressed on leadership, governance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement?  
  • How did assets perform against their peer groups on energy, GHG, water, and waste? 
  • What was the assets’ GHG data coverage? What measures are in place for assets increase their data coverage? 
  • Which assets in development reported to GRESB? What was the fund’s score in respect to its development portfolio?  
  • What strategies are in place to capitalize on the climate-related opportunities identified and assessed by the Asset?
