We are excited to announce Dr. Matt Trowbridge as the new GRESB Senior Fellow for social sustainability.
Dr. Trowbridge will serve as an external strategic advisor, helping identify opportunities for GRESB to improve transparency and promote social sustainability outcomes. This is part of GRESB’s on-going efforts to meet investor demand for thematic information about the performance of entities and assets around the world.
Dr. Trowbridge brings a unique combination of skills and experience to this new role. He is a physician and public health researcher with a deep interest in the design and operation of the built environment, and was instrumental in the development and successful operation of the GRESB Health & Well-being Module. This was a multi-year effort to understand health-promotion practices among GRESB real estate participants, which provided unprecedented insights into the state of the industry and contributed directly to indicators in the current generation of assessments. Work on the Module paralleled efforts to create new tools for building certification systems, including the Health Action Plan process. This concept was ultimately adopted into LEED and Enterprise Green Communities.
As a Senior Fellow, Dr Trowbridge will work with the GRESB Foundation and GRESB Innovation Teams on a number of emerging issues, including:
- Advising on the development of cross-cutting social sustainability ratings – part of a growing family of thematic tools.
- Engaging with key stakeholders, including industry groups interested in social impact and investment.
- Providing thought leadership to help investors and managers understand social issues and take effective action.
This work will be expressed through engagement with GRESB staff, Foundation volunteers, and stakeholders through online and in-person events over the next year.
Please follow Dr. Trowbridge on LinkedIn and and watch for his Insights on GRESB.com.
