From ESG data to Actionable Insights
GRESB’s position as the global ESG real asset benchmark provides unparalleled data-driven insights into how the industry is dealing with the sustainability challenge. The GRESB Assessments emerged from research by Maastricht University and our approach continues to be shaped by academic rigor and best practice approaches to data science. All data collection, processing and analytics are performed by GRESB´s own analytics platform, guaranteeing an end-to-end solution with a seamless audit trail for each data point.
Consistent Methodology and Comprehensive Coverage
Our Assessment methodology is consistent across different regions, markets, investment vehicles, legal structures (listed/private) and property types. This consistency, combined with our broad market coverage, means our members can apply a single, globally recognized ESG framework to all their real assets. It also means that we can start to measure our performance as a sector and track progress against national and global policy goals such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Third Party Validation
Our three-layer, end-to-end validation process is an important element of our quality control as we strive towards delivering investment grade data. The process was developed by PwC and involves third party verification by GCBI to ensure the accuracy and reliability of our assessment results, analytics and benchmarks.
In 2018 we started the process of developing a new GRESB ESG Data Quality Standard to define the rules for high-quality data reporting. The Standard will draw on best practices and principles in data quality used by experts across different industries and apply them to ESG data to complement our existing validation processes. Read more on the GRESB ESG Data Quality Standard.
The GRESB Scoring Model is an automated system. It uses a technology platform designed for GRESB by a third party specializing in data analysis software development. To distil nuances in ESG performance and create meaningful comparisons, we benchmark portfolios within their investment type and geography.
Powerful Analytical Tools
Our analytical tools allow members and participants to analyze their ESG performance data in ways that are most meaningful, transforming the raw data into powerful insights. Additionally, our Assessments – covering Real Estate and Infrastructure – provide sector specific benchmarks through which to compare performance.
