Ibis Novena Hotel - A case of converting split-unit aircon system to water-cooled central system

Purpose of the project

For better energy efficiency and reduction of carbon footprint, we embarked on an upgrading program to replace the existing split unit air-cooled air-conditioning system to water-cooled central air-conditioning system.

Approach

Engaged mechanical engineer and energy consultant to carry out systematic study on the feasibility to upgrade the air-conditioning system, along side with other improvements such as upgrading lighting system to LED, waste recycling, water conservation among others.

Contract for replacement of the existing split unit air-cooled air-conditioning system to water-cooled central air-conditioning system was awarded and implemented in phases.

Results

We expect an estimated savings of 33% in energy costs upon completion of the upgrading works.
Annual energy consumption and greenhouse gas emission (CO2) is estimated to be reduced by 848,985 kWh and 425 tons respectively.
